Custom Game Pass, Dota 2‘s paid mod system, will allow users to purchase in-items to allow additional content or games within Dota 2 for thirty days. This decision was made to “encourage developers to work hard to continue to support their games, and fans to be able to reward developers if they are happy with the work the developer is doing.” The pass only lasts for thirty days for the same reasoning; one Custom Game Pass will not allow the purchaser to access multiple custom games.
Players will have 48 hours to return a Custom Game Pass if they are not satisfied with their purchase. For more detail about this change, click the FAQ link here.
After Valve’s horrendous experiment to introduce paid mods to Steam last year, I am surprised Valve is attempting this again so soon. What are your thoughts?
